Google Chrome not for Linux ?

A few weeks ago, Google released their first opensource web browser, Chrome. I got excited to hear such a news as Google is one of the enterprise promoting the use of opensource softwares. But later I came to know that they released the beta version only for the proprietary giant Microsoft Windows. Google announce that the Linux version of Chrome will be delayed. Why do they do this by not considering the biggest opensource software Linux ? Is it a move by google to make the Chrome available to more people all over the world since they use MS Windows ? I wonder why ? Anyway lets wait till they release the Linux version before I get a hand on the Chrome.
